Okay buckaroos, we had our 1st ever internet meeting on February 15th, and it opened with limited success. There are still a few bugs to work out, but what's new? Early on it was agreed to have a quorum of at least 8 members to make any strong decisions, but to still discuss some topics even if we didn't meet the minimum. (We didn't make the quorum, with only 7 members showing.) Attending were Santa Walter, Santa Rick and Sheri Farley, Stacy Rose, Big Santa David, Santa David of Walnut Creek, an…

Nor Cal Santas Koffee Klatsch was well populated this Saturday. Also, a big welcome to all the Santas, helpers, and elves who have newly populated this roster. For those not experienced in reading this writer’s ramblings, the best way to describe my style is “careening.” Good luck with that. Nineteen were in attendance this morning, which includes 14 of our Santas. Participants were, in no particular order:
Santa Ed Eckert…Milpitas
Santa Walter Roach…San Jose
Reindeer Debbie Roach…San Jose
Santa…

Reindeer Debbie and I will be attending the annual
Luncheon at Knott's Berry Farm. At the luncheon, Santa For Events and Santa Walter will be displaying the new, light-weight, portable Santa bench. Because we are both still working our day jobs as educators, we are not able to attend the cruise; however, it sounds really neat! More details may be found at…

A business reporter for the Chron interviewed me back when I was just starting out as a RBS back in 2006. She kept my name on file and followed up with a long interview complete with a photographer tailing me for about 3 1/2 hours on one of the days. What a strange feeling to wake up to your mug on the front page of a major newspaper!

Let's have a coffee klatch! It is a great way for folks to drop in; dress Casual Claus or its equivalent. Our meeting will be from 10:15 to 10:45, and can be joined remotely by CHAT. Our Santas of Northern California has grown; let's get together so we can meet each other and plan our meetings for 2010. Early birds arrive by 9:00 AM, and the die-hards will be around until almost 11:30 AM, on January 16, 2010.
Take the Coleman exit off of I-880 south, towards the HP Pavilion Arena and downtown S…

April 17 was Santa Zeke's turn to be Host and Massacre of Ceremonies ( hey, you try riding herd over a bunch of old fat guys who love to socialize) for our quarterly Supper of Santas. Alameda's
China Gourmet restaurant proved up to the task for feeding the party of fifteen: Santa Zeke and Kathy from the Isle of Style, Santa Ed and Joan from Milpitas, Santa Ben and Susan, Santa Walter, Debbie and Heather, all from San Jose, plus the extra special bonus guests Santa Ron Robertson and…

The Business End of Santa Claus: Breakeven Analysis
by Santa Walter Roach (Permission to copy and share is given; please leave credit attached.) Santa Walter first published this article in February, 2008, based on the previous calendar year. Minor edits have taken place, and 2 new graphics inserted.)
Once the Red Suit is donned, the “Ho! Ho! Ho!” has been practiced, and the smile is flashes for the first time, our role is assured; however, most of us who are a professional Santa Claus have mo…

At 11:27am on January 23, 2009, Michael Ben-Edward said…Thank you, one and all! However, Chris, first take that "s" off my Hollywood name. 1] the world could not handle a plural of me, and 2] if you google or IMDB me, it's just Michael Ben-Edward (see, no 's')
Already unmasked, there were many years in the industry, Stage, film, TV and a lot of broadcasting; country radio in Los Angeles [well, actually Burbank], talk radio in San Francisco.
As a younger Santa, and for too long a Realtor, alter…

Santas I have known
Tuesday, December 23, 2008
Dixie Frantz
There used to be a large wooden sign plastered across the furrdown that separated our kitchen from the breakfast room that read, “I Believe in Santa Claus.” Unfortunately, right after Christmas about 10 years ago, the family decided the furrdown needed to come down … something about us bumping our noggins 10 too many times. Yep, that evening after dinner, hubby took a sledge ham…

As Posted on Santa Talk. Santa Zeke writes this:
As my work was winding down on Friday night with the last minute parents shuttling their kids into the line before we closed, a gentleman and his friend were looking inside my cottage set in the middle of Alameda Towne Centre. The man explained that he was going to bring his kids in to see Santa tomorrow and he wanted to bring them to just the right place. He was from Botswana, and his children had never been to see Santa Claus in his homeland, s…
