Suggested Agenda
for Santas NorCal Virtual Meeting (using CHAT online) http://santasnorcal.com/chat
on Saturday, February 13, 2010, 9 AM start

(Please send an email or message to Santa Ed to be listed in the minutes as being excused from the meeting.)

Online meeting facilitators/moderators:
  • Santa Walter (President)
  • Santa Zeke (Vice President - Recording Secretary)
  • Santa Ed (Vice President - Membership Chair)
  • Mrs. Claus Sheri (Vice President - Treasurer)
  • Elf Chris (Vice President - Information Technology Support)

Old Business
  • Agreement for online meeting: Everyone should stick to agenda item discussion to minimize 'threaded' discussion confusion. [Everyone's posts show up approximately when posted; however, if everyone waits for the current topic on the agenda, all of the comments tend to stay with the subject at hand. Less confusing!]
  • Consensus model (any member with strong feelings may table or postpone a decision, if the group agrees. All members input welcome; vote is carried out as, "Is there a consensus that ____" with "YES," or "NO, because _____.")
  • Excused Members listed from Santa Ed those who are unable to participate.
  • Paid Members of Santas NorCal listed by Mrs. Claus Sheri
  • [Revisit] Website services for Members only? (pay $5 for membership fee). Should we stay open to anyone who wishes to become a member of http://santasnorcal.org while they 'lurk'?
  • April Meeting Location & Date (can we avoid Easter or Spring Break?)
  • Virtual Meetings monthly, in-person meetings quarterly (January, April, July, October)
  • Certificates for Members (Walter volunteers to create them) of Santas NorCal to be available at April meeting and mail out to those not able to attend.
New Business
  • Santa Round Robin Seminar, August 7, 2010, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM with optional Casual Claus Dinner to follow. [Similar pattern to the seminar sessions in August 2008 with 'Healthy Kids: Santa Cares'] (Proposed by Santa Walter)
    • Approximately $40 per person includes continental breakfast & catered lunch, room rental, supplies, door prizes, honorariums, printing costs, etc. Possible schedule: 8:30 coffee klatch, 9:15 opening, 9:45 Seminar I & break, 10:45 Seminar II & Lunch, 12:45 Seminar III & break, 1:45 Seminar IV [voice lesson?] & break, 3:30 Round Table Seminar, Raffel Door Prizes, & Close.
    • Seminar suggestions may include: 1) Voice Singing Lesson with Peggy Spool (very popular last time!), 2) Mrs. Claus & Elves as Entertainers, 3) Developing Monologues for Entertaining and Storytelling, 4) Tips for Successful Santa Events, 5) Wardrobe Fashion Options: Santa, Mrs. Claus, Elves, 6) Enhancing Santa Party Events with props, crafts, face painting, balloons, Christmas tattoos, letters to Santa, etc. 7) Hair & Beards, Mrs. Claus' Wigs, Makeup. 8) Round Table Panel Discussion: The Business of Santa or Professional Santa. [Please rank these seminar topic suggestions and offer others]
  • Santa Jamboree June 27 through July 1, Anaheim Crowne Plaza, sponsored by FORBSantas. Interested in the newsletter?
  • Santa eNews (published by Santa Walter): http://santaenews.info
  • Next Meeting: 'Virtual CHAT Meeting' for March 13, 2010, 9:00 AM
  • Other New Business

Hello eveyone associated with Santas NorCal,

We are still on for our first-ever Virtual CHAT Meeting. One of our new members, Santa Stephen Whitaker, is working on a way for us to be able to call a phone number (in Florida) that gives us free conference calling; however, it does not seem to be feasible for the short-term for this meeting. It sounds like over time our Virtual Meetings will offer improved performance!

One key important item: Please stay on a single topic at a time. The discussion will not be 'threaded', so they will be in whatever order they were posted rather than in sequence. If I am unable to log in due to plane scheduling, Santa Zeke will fill in as Moderator and call out the agenda items one-by-one and get the ball rolling on each item. After the discussion points have been offered, then the Moderator will clarify the consensus, wait a moment for clarification. When ready, the next topic will be opened for discussion. Having done meetings like this, the trick is to respect each other and respect the narrow bandwidth.

I look forward to our first-ever virtual meeting this Saturday, 9 AM PST.

Thanks so much,

Santa Walter
President, Santas NorCal
